New Märklin One Gauge/G Gauge Union Pacific Big Boy

Märklin will be releasing a Union Pacific Railroad class 4000 “Big Boy” steam locomotive in their One Gauge line. The version they are producing reflects how road number 4014 looked around 2019 with an oil fired tender (Official Announcement HERE).

Product Highlights:

    • Completely new tooling, highly detailed full metal construction.
    • Frame, superstructure, boiler, etc. constructed of die-cast zinc and aluminum, separately applied parts constructed of brass.
    • Newly developed decoder generation with a current buffer and up to 32 functions.
    • Smoke unit with smoke exhaust and f/r cylinder steam synchronized with the wheels, a steam whistle and many other steam functions.
    • Load-controlled operating sounds synchronized with the wheels and other functions.
    • Headlights with a light color correct for the era and warm white LEDs.
    • Red marker light that can be controlled.
    • Running gear lights, cab lighting, and platform lighting.
    • mfx decoder for operation with AC power, DC power, Märklin Digital, and DCC.
    • Valve gear switchover (forward, reverse, continuous operation) in 3 steps with a servomotor.

Several online dealers have the preorder price on this locomotive at or around $6,800. Expected to ship the 2nd quarter of 2024.
